How to Uninstall Skype on Windows 8, 10
As you know, there are two versions of Skype you can run on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. One is the dedicated app that you can download and install from the Windows Store, and the other is the desktop app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 that can be downloaded from the Skype website.
While some users don’t like the Skype app at all and want to install the desktop version, others will want to have it the other way around. If you have installed Skype and you now want to remove it, check out this small guide where I will show you how to uninstall Skype on Windows 8, for the two versions that are available.
How to Uninstall Skype on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
If you have installed the Skype app from the Windows Store and didn’t like the way it looks or works, uninstalling it very simple. On both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 the process is very simple. All you need to do is right click on the app and from the bottom menu, click on the “Uninstall” button. This will uninstall the app automatically and in a few seconds, you will not have to worry about it any more.
Note: Also, for users that have upgraded to Windows 8.1, they can find the Skype app in the All Apps screen.
If you have installed the Skype desktop app (if you don’t know how to install it, check out our guide), then you will have to use the “Programs and Features” option from Control Panel. To access this tool, in Windows 8 you will have to go to the Settings charm and select “Control Panel“. From here, select the Programs and Features option and search for Skype in the list. Once you’ve found it, click on “Uninstall” and follow the wizard.
Windows 8.1 users can access the Programs and Features option by right clicking the Start button. This open the options menu where you will find several other features. The one you are looking for is located at the top of this list.
Note: Using the latter method will allow you to uninstall any other desktop app that you might have installed on your computer.
